Painted Rain Boots & Rack

I painted rain boots for each of my children as a fun and useful Christmas gift. I just found inexpensive pairs of rain boots at WalMart and then painted them with spray paints I had in the basement. For my older daughter, I did a kind of grungey punk style design and cute stuff for the little kids. I like to get them gifts that they will use for a long time and then pass down to the other children.
My husband saw my idea and went out to the garage and made a wooden base which he glued dowels into so that the children had a rack to dry the boots on upside down outdoors. I painted the rack with the leftover paints and it turned out really nice.
From Mel: Thanks for the idea! I found a picture from another rain boot painter who appears to have won a prize. This is a great gift for gardeners, children who have to walk to school, or anyone who lives in the country.
