A Homemade Valentine Gift
From Your Kitchen

A homemade valentine gift is what most people say they really hope for. Give them what they want with one of these great cookie ideas:

Make or buy sugar cookie dough and cut into heart shapes. You can decorate before baking by mixing an egg yolk with 10 drops of food coloring and then using it as paint on the unbaked cookies. Bake as usual. For a different method of decorating, spread the baked and cooled cookies with frosting and then press on small candies.

Make heart shaped chocolate cookies. Spread one with ice cream or frosting, then top with another to make a cookie sandwich.
Make (or buy) small shortbread cookies and dip each one half way into melted chocolate. Let harden on wax paper.

Using two layers of dough, one with the middle cut out in a heart shape, make jelly filled cookies with your favorite preserves, jam or jelly.
